3LPE Coating's Specifications


The 3LPE coating materials are epoxy powder, copolymeric or grafted adhesive and polyethylene compound with proven compatibility.

Generally speaking, pipelines used in industries such as oil and gas, petrochemicals, textiles, power generation, etc. are under enormous pressure. These stresses are the reason why pipes become prone to cracking and eventually fail. The use of 3LPE coated pipes is mainly used in environments with underwater or buried applications. Therefore, 3LPE coating is an important method to improve the corrosion resistance of steel pipes.

 

1.Thickness Of 3LPE Coating On Steel Pipes

minimum 125 µm Epoxy layer thickness

minimum 150 µm copolymer layer thickness

minimum thickness of 1.8 mm to 4.7 mm polyethylene or polypropylene layer

 

2. 3LPE Coating Density

3-Layer Polyethylene Coating or as referred to by its short-form, 3LPE coating consists of a multilayer setting, wherein the pipes consist of three layers. Layer one consists of a high-performance Fusion Bonded Epoxy or shortened as FBE primer. The layer of primer is followed by another copolymer layer, which acts as an adhesive. And lastly, the final outermost layer consists of polyethylene. The outermost polyethylene layer is what provides the 3LPE Coating Pipe with tough and durable protection.
